Funding
The Saskatoon Public School Division, along with Buena Vista School provide the teachers, facilities, and some of the required gear. Students are required to pay a $200.00 fee to cover the costs of transportation, supplies, and required operational expenses. Acceptance into the program is not based on the ability to pay. If payment poses any difficulty, please contact Scott Thompson or Shelly Loeffler, the Ecoquest teachers at 683-8125.
How To Apply
Application packages are available to download below. Students are
asked to:
Complete the application thoroughly with support from your parent(s) or guardian(s).
Carefully write a word processed one-page letter which explains why you feel you belong in the Ecoquest program. Have your home room teacher complete the
teacher referral form that you can download below and send
it with your application package.
All completed applications must be received by Ecoquest: Buena
Vista School,1306 Lorne Avenue, Saskatoon SK S7H 1X8 by the application
deadline of March 31st. No application will be accepted after
this date. Students will be notified of acceptance by mail by
May 14th.
The Ecoquest program demands a high level of commitment, responsibility
and independence. It is for this reason that a student's application
must reflect a responsible, mature and cooperative approach to
learning. A healthy lifestyle is an important prerequisite as
students must be capable of physically rigorous activity.
The following list of criteria will be used to select
candidates for the Ecoquest program:
- Responsibility
- Independence
- Commitment
- Dependability
- Academic Effort
- Cooperation
- Interest in Ecology
- Fitness Level
- Healthy Lifestyle
- Safety
Upon review of the applications, a short list
will be created and some references will be phoned. Students
will then be notified by mail of their acceptance. Successful
candidates must make appropriate arrangements with their home
school.
